The first one was postmarked from New Orleans, Louisiana on March 27, 1943. It is also postmarked ''GIVE RED CROSS WAR FUND''. The postage stamp area is marked ''FREE'' because it was sent by a (named) U.S. Army Lieutenant to his daughter during World War II. The postcard has a neatly written message on the back and it was mailed to a North Dartmouth, Massachusetts address. The card pictures many young children (both boys and girls) in fancy clothes (suits and dresses) or costumes for The Children's Carnival Pageant. It is marked on the front and back as follows: THE CHILDREN'S CARNIVAL PAGEANT, MARDI GRAS, NEW ORLEANS, LA. - 172 (information about the Mardi Gras Pageant) NEW ORLEANS - AMERICA'S MOST INTERESTING CITY MADE IN U.S.A.
