The pictures show several views of this Old Boxed Favorite Funnies Comic Strip Character Printing Set. Shown is the box cover, the box opened, and a closer view of the print blocks inside. The set is not dated but believed to be from the 1930s or 1940s. It was made in the U.S.A. by SMECo. and © Famous Artists Syndicate, Inc.. The cover pictures nine old newspaper comic strip characters and it is marked as follows: FAVORITE FUNNIES PRINTING SET PRINT YOUR OWN COMICS ORPHAN ANNIE DICK TRACY SMITTY WINNIE WINKLE The box comes with four wood and rubber print stamps and a booklet. The booklet has a comic strip on the cover and instructions inside. The rest has pages to stamp the characters and it is in the shape of a comic strip. Three pages have ink stampings on them. There appears to be one stamp missing and an ink stamp pad. The character stamps included are as follows: Radio Orphan Annie with Sandy B. O. Plenty Smitty, Herby & a dog Denny Dimwit from Winnie Winkle To judge the sizes the colorful box measures about 7-1/4'' x 4'' x 7/8''. The box is in excellent condition as pictured. The stamps were used very little and one appears to be missing. The paper pad has printing neatly done on the first three pages. There most likely an ink stamp pad when it was new, but it is not here now. The kit is as pictured. |
