The pictures below show larger views of the Rare 1956 Cracker Jack Company Series Z-1206 Animated Plastic Prize Injection Molds with (46) Prizes in this lot. These molds and prizes were from when the Cracker Jack Company was still a family run business, before Frito Lay, and even Borden, owned the product. The Rueckheim Brothers and Eckstein had renamed the company Reliable Confections, and then The Cracker Jack Company in 1922. This is a great opportunity, or chance for you to be the proud owner of a Rare, one of a kind, piece of Cracker Jack, or toy prize History. This Plastic Animated Series has the company record number Z-1206 from 1956. The prizes were made by Irvin E. Copeland of Rochester, New York. The prizes are not numbered, and the number of different prizes in the series are unknown. This lot has (20) molds with (10) different animated prize designs. There are other prizes included (see below) that do not have molds here. The other molds were most likely discarded, melted, or recycled many years ago, but these molds have some how survived. I can say that they have been hidden away here, for may years. I have no record of any other of the different molds still in existence. The heavy molds are made on solid steel blocks with the designs of Flicker or lenticular moving images. The metal molds alone weigh over seven pounds. With two halves together a port for injection molding is formed. One side has the changing images with lines, and are each marked “THE CRACKER JACK CO”. The back sides have only lines. Each mold block has two prizes, and each back has two back sides as well. These molds and prizes are difficult to photograph because of the changing images. In no particular order, the different animated images on the molds are as follows: BUCKING HORSE BOXER BOXING A PUNCHING BAG COWBOY DRAWING HIS REVOLVER OR GUN ELEPHANT SPLASHING ITSELF WITH WATER TUGBOAT STEAMING AND ROCKING IN THE WATER FOUR LEAF CLOVER WITH THE WORDS “GOOD” AND “LUCK” FLASHING COWBOY DRAWING HIS REVOLVER OR GUN FAT CLOWN JUMPING UP AND DOWN SPERM WHALE SLAPPING TAIL AND FOUNTAIN FROM BLOW HOLE SPERM WHALE SLAPPING TAIL AND FOUNTAIN FROM BLOW HOLE COWBOY DRAWING HIS REVOLVER OR GUN FAT CLOWN JUMPING UP AND DOWN SEAL BALANCING A BALL ON ITS NOSE SEAL BALANCING A BALL ON ITS NOSE ENGINE AND TRAIN STEAMING BY POLES ON A RAILROAD TRACK ENGINE AND TRAIN STEAMING BY POLES ON A RAILROAD TRACK BACK MOLD HALF WITH LINES BACK MOLD HALF WITH LINES BACK MOLD HALF WITH LINES BACK MOLD HALF WITH LINES The plastic prizes came in clear, tinted gold or yellow, tinted pink, and tinted blue. Some of each of these are included in this lot (see image of plastic prizes below). These are unlike most flicker or lenticular items in that they do not use a paper or sticker image. The designs are molded right in the plastic. Metal molds like these were extremely expensive to make. Some of the prizes do not have the metal molds. The numbers and images on the prizes are as follows: (4) BUCKING HORSE (4) BOXER BOXING A PUNCHING BAG (3) COWBOY DRAWING HIS REVOLVER OR GUN (2) ELEPHANT SPLASHING ITSELF WITH WATER (2) TUGBOAT STEAMING AND ROCKING IN THE WATER (3) FOUR LEAF CLOVER WITH THE WORDS “GOOD” AND “LUCK” FLASHING (2) FAT CLOWN JUMPING UP AND DOWN (3) SPERM WHALE SLAPPING TAIL AND FOUNTAIN FROM BLOW HOLE (5) SEAL BALANCING A BALL ON ITS NOSE (1) ENGINE AND TRAIN STEAMING BY POLES ON A RAILROAD TRACK (no mold) (4) MOVING AND SMILING CLOWN FACE (4) STAR OR FIREWORKS EXPLODING (3) PLUTO LOOKING CARTOON CHARACTER DOG WITH WAGGING TAIL AND MOVING EARS (3) SMALL AIRPLANE FLYING WITH MOVING PROPELLER, WINGS, AND CLOUDS (3) SPINNING SPIRAL DESIGN All of these Cracker Jack molds and prizes for one price! I had always stored and displayed these in a wooden display box that they fit nicely. I will include the hinged wooden box, both there is no glss in the cover. You can easily slip a piece of glass inside like a frame. To judge the wooden case measures about 8-1/2'' x 6-1/2'' x 1-5/8''. The molds and prizes appear to be in excellent or better condition as pictured. These will be wrapped very well for mailing, and insured. |
