The picture below shows several larger views of this United States World War II Germany Zone Schuco Key Wind Up Tippy Dog Mechanical Figure. Shown are both sides and the bottom. This key wind mechanical toy dog is not dated but it is from the late 1940s in the U.S. Zone in Germany just after World War II ended. It was made by Schuco and his name is “TIPPY”. There is no box, and the ball that goes on the hook on his mouth is missing. It is marked on the bottom as follows: MADE IN U.S. ZONE GERMANY SCHUCO PATENT The dog breed is unknown, perhaps some type of a Scottie Dog, or another Terrier. It has fuzzy black surface on the body, black felt ears, black furry front legs, a black felt tail, a red felt tounge, and glass or hard plastic eyes. He is wearing a soft fuzzy tan coat with black squares. There is a metal key to wind on his right back side. The mechanism inside turns the larger wheels forward and back wheels alternate. The gears inside make the front legs move alternately, and it look as if it is running. It works very well. It is very quick and entertaining. This mechanical toy dog measures about 4-3/4'' x 3'' x 2''. It appears to be in excellent condition with only light wear from use as pictured. As mentioned above, there is no box, and the ball that goes on the hook, on his mouth is missing. |
