| | | The picture shows a view of this ©1959 Space Flight Golden Library of Knowledge Children's Book. This (60) page hard back book is titled SPACE FLIGHT - THE COMING EXPLORATION OF THE UNIVERSE. It is by Lester Del Rey and illustrated by John Polgreen. It is ©1957, 1958 by General Mills, Inc. and ©1959 by Golden Press, Inc.. It was printed in the U.S.A. by Western Printing and Lithographing Company and published by Golden Press, Inc. of Rockefeller Center, New York, N.Y.. The book has many great colorful pre Apollo mission fictional space, rocket, and Astronaut images, like the cover. The cover has a spaceship high above the United States. There is a small added card inside that has a correction for the very first sentence of the book. The card reads as follows: The first sentence on page 5 of this book should read as follows: The Space Age began on October 4, 1957, when the first artificial satellite - Sputnik - was successfully launched. (The book has the year as 1958) The book measures 6-5/8'' x 8'' x 3/8''. It appears to be in excellent condition as pictured. The pages have some browning from age and the price in the upper left was blotted out with a black marker. |
