The pictures below show larger front and back views of all (6) Different Old Celluloid Photograph Pin Back Buttons in this lot. There are (2) pin back buttons here (top left & top right) that were a part of an 1896 collection of pinback buttons that we had acquired. They were used as a premium with packages of Sweet Caporal cigarettes. It is unknown how many are in the complete set. These pin back buttons have images of a pretty young ladies from the Victorian era that were probably a theatre Actress or a Singer. Their names and backings are marked as follows: MARIE D. SHOTWELL SWEET CAPORAL CIGARETTE BUTTONS MANUFACTURED BY THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. BADGES & BUTTONS NEWARK, N.J. PAT. JULY 21, 1896 PAT. APRIL 14, 1896 PAT. JULY 17, 1894 The other four pinback buttons have photographs of a baby, a young boy, a young man, and a young lady. These are not marked and they do not have backing papers. One does not have a pin and we do not see a place for one. We have had others like these and some were made as souvenirs by Photographers at boardwalks, arcades, amusement parks, or other popular tourist attraction places. All of these for one price! The pin back buttons each measure about 7/8'' wide. They appear to range from fair to excellent condition with spotting or rusting on the back as pictured. |
