The picture shows all (14) Old Metal & Wood "Kiddies From Dairyland" Advertising Print Blocks in this lot. I had digitally reversed the scanned image so they could be more easily read. The print blocks have reverse images and wording. The images on the print blocks might be difficult to see in the picture this is because what you see is a negative printing image. They are very detailed and if printed the images would be very crisp and clear. I do not know the exact years these were used, but I would guess the 1910's or 1920's. They are made of metal and mounted on mahogany wood sections. There is a copyright mark on each that reads: © McTEE & CO., INC. They depict children that are either cherubs or angels with little wings. My best guess is that a different image was printed in a newspaper every day and you were to cut them out and make a Story Book with them. The printers blocks in this lot are as follows: Large Frame block. This frame pictures two cherubs and has the appearance of a book with a page turned. It reads: "KIDDIES FROM DAIRYLAND STORYBOOK" Small Title Block. This one reads: "KIDDIES FROM DAIRYLAND STORYBOOK" (12) Alphabet Page Image Blocks. Included are the letters: N,O,P,Q,R,S,T,U,V,X,Y, & Z. There is no "W" These print blocks each depict a different scene with Cherubs or Angels and the letters as characters. The scenes all pertain to milk and are relevant to the letter, such as "R" for Rhyme, "S" for Strong, "U" for Universe, etc., etc.. To judge the sizes the square print blocks measure around 2" x 2" x 7/8". They are in excellent and useable condition. The frame does have a piece of one side section missing as can be pictured, but it can still be used or repaired. |
