The picture below shows a larger view of most of the (7) Different Small Old United States Civil Defense Related Items in this lot. The one item not shown, missed getting photographed. It is item #3 below.This lot includes the following items:

The first item is a ©1941 “HANDBOOK OF FIRST AID” prepared by the U.S. OFFICE OF CIVIL in cooperation with THE AMERICAN RED CROSS DEFENSE. This is an (84) page booklet filled with illustrations with instructions on First Aid.

Second is a ©1966 “DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE – OFFICE OF CIVIL DEFENSE – PERSONAL AND FAMILY SURVIVAL” Civil Defense Adult Education Course Student Manual. This is a (140) page book full of illustrations and information to prepare your family during the Cold War. The book has a mailing label on the back that is to a Dover, New Hampshire mailing address.

The third item is not pictured. It goes with the book above. It is a letter from the “U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE – BUREAU OF THE CENSUS, in WASHINGTON, D.C.”. The letter was from A. Ross Eckler, Director, Bureau of the Census.

The fourth item is a ©1951 booklet “ CIVIL DEFENSE SUPPLEMENT TO THE AMERICAN RED CROSS FIRST AID TEXTBOOK”. This is a (60) page book has graphic illustrations of the effects of atomic war, and much information.

The fifth item is a 1943 – 1945 CIVIL DEFENSE service ribbon with a red stripe or band for 500 hours of service.

The sixth item included here is an unused embroidered cloth patch for the “AMESBURY CIVIL DEFENSE”. It has a seal in the center with acoack type wagon, and it is also marked “TOWN OF AMESBURY MASSACHUSETTS INCORPORATED 1668”. The thread is white and gold on black cloth.

The seventh item is aunopened and unused 1943 – 1945 CIVIL DEFENSE service ribbon with a blue stripe or band for 1000 hours of service.

All seven of these Civil Defense items for one price! To judge the sizes the center book measures about 5-7/8'' x 8-5/8''. The patch, ribbons and letter appear to be in mint condition, and the three books have some wear from use as pictured.
