| | | | The picture shows the front of this Old Newport Naval Hospital Pharmacist Mate Third Class Petty Officer ID Badge. We do not know when this badge is from, but sometime after World War II the rate was changed to Hospital Corpsman. The back is made of tin and has a heavy gauge pin. There are two bumps on the front surface. This is where the pin is on the back. The badge appears to have several assembled layers and a clear covering. The green layer has some cracking from shrinkage. We do not know if this happened when it was made or not. The photo is of a 6'5" Navy Pharmacist Mate Third Class Petty Officer. It is marked as follows: NAVAL HOSPITAL
