| | | | The picture shows a front and back view of this Fancy Old Brass Lovell & Covel Advertising Candy Serving Spoon. The spoon is not dated but it is believed to be from the early 1900s. The spoon has a scalloped shaped bowl with scrollwork on the handle with the Lovell & Covel candy company name. Spoons like these were used for serving small amounts or samples of candy either from a candy store counter or confectionery. They were also given out as an advertising premium to customers for use in the home. In 1933 the old candy company had merged or was acquired by an even older candy company, The New England Confectionery Company (NECCO). The spoon measures 3-3/4'' long. It is in excellent uncleaned condition as pictured. It could be easily polished if desired but that will be left up to the buyer to decide. |
