The picture below shows a larger view of this Old Unused Way Out Space Astronaut & Alien Comic Joke Bar Napkin. The napkin is shown unfolded. It was made folded in quarters. The napkin is not dated but it is believed to be from the early to mid 1960s. In one of the comics it does reference ''Ham the Chimp'' or ''Ham the Astrochimp'', who was a chimpanzee and the first hominid launched into space, on 31 January 1961, as part of America's space program, and yet it does not mention anything about the Apollo space missions. The napkin is marked as follows: NAPKINS OF DISTINCTION BY BEACH PRODUCTS, KALAMAZOO, MICH. The napkin has (8) colorful space comics with captions. A few are risque or politically incorrect. The captions read as follows: EACH MAN MAY TAKE ONE ITEM OF RECREATIONAL EQUIPMENT. THERE GOES THAT RICH GUY AND HIS ''PARTY SATELLITE'' AGAIN! I DON'T LIKE HIS BEING CAPTAIN EITHER, BUT HE DOES HAVE SENIORITY! WELL WHY THE HELL DIDN'T YOU TAKE CARE OF THAT BEFORE YOU LEFT THE BARRACKS. I'LL BE RIGHT BACK. MEN, THIS IS A DANGEROUS MISSION WE HAVE TO FACE! AFTER YOU'VE BEEN HERE FOR AWHILE, THEY DON'T LOOK HALF BAD. CORNED BEEF HASH AGAIN! The opened napkin (as shown) measures 9-3/8'' x 9-3/8''. It is clean and appears to be in excellent condition as pictured. There is some wrinkling from storage and handling that can be easily steamed or pressed out. This would look great framed on a wall in a bar. |
