The picture shows a view of all (6) Different Unused 1956 Forbidden Planet Science Fiction Movie Ad Mat Molds in this lot. These are still attached and there is a small portion of a seventh one as well. Because that one is not complete it was not counted in the total above. The ad mats are not dated but they are from 1956 when this movie was made. These are molds in which lead is poured to create a thin metal negative image that is then mounted on a wooden block for printing. Advertising is no longer being made or printed like this.

The ad mats are like a miniature 3-D posters and would look nice framed, or you could still use them to make print blocks from. The print block would have been used to print on movie pages in newspapers, in magazines, or in the movie theater programs. These are made of a thick compressed paper board. They are difficult to see in the picture below, but one has a movie scene with Robby The Robot with a woman, and one with a movie scene with a man and a woman. One of the advertising admats has an image of Robby the Robot and a flying saucer spacehip with Saturn, and another pictures the planet Saturn. In the order pictured these ad mats are marked as follows:

(#1)
(movie scene with man & woman)
FORBIDDEN PLANET MAT 1-A

To judge the sizes, the two ad mats at the bottom right in the picture together measure about 5-3/8'' x 3-3/8''. These appear to be in excellent or better unused condition with some small old water spots as pictured. These water spots would not affect the making of print blocks from these molds. Below here, for reference, is a cast list from this 1956 movie:
