There are two pictures showing a views of the Interesting 1914 Holyoke High School Student Character Scrap Book And Report Card in this lot. The first picture shows the book cover, report card, and report card envelope. The second picture has some randomly selected pages from the old scrap book. This was put together by a young lady in 1914 named Minnie Buchanan in her third (Junior) year of High School at Holyoke High School in Massachusetts. This is a very interesting and personal scrap book. She had applied many colorful 1914 period graphics, illustrations, and pictures. There are also quite a few Kewpie Doll images throughout (see some examples in the pictures). There is much detailed information about her classmates (a whole page for each). Those who are in this book would be well over 100 years old now. The pages are written in different handwriting, so I am guessing that the pages were filled in my each person. Because this book may be of great interest to the families of those in it, their descendants, or genealogy researchers, I will include the names mentioned in it (as they were back then) here: Faye Hall Marguerite H. Mew Gertrude C. Cassidy Irene Frances Shea Helen Gertrude Gleason Mary F. Cronin Katherine Patricia Slattery Margaret Metcalf Richard E. Dreicorn Frank E. Snyder Hugh Lacy Helen Leary Lena Saloude Mary O'Grady Pete Clark Blanche Conant (info not filled in) Elliott Reed Alice Garvey E.F. Quigley Sam U. Camell Frances Horrigan Eva Girard Rose M. Crowley Minnie Buchanan Rita Shea Bertha Tatro Mary O'Donnell Eva Godkin Joseph Mangum Margaret Sander (?) The title page reads as follows: Character Book Of Minnie Buchanan While In Her 3rd Year Of H.H.S. Required The Truth, The Whole Truth And Nothing But The Truth. The 1914 - 1915 report card of this young lady is included with the envelope. The back is signed three times by one of her parents. The book measures 6-3/4" x 8-1/4". It is in good condition with the following: Part of the binding is coming loose, the title page is loose but all other pages are intact. There is some light soiling on some of the pages, probably from being looked at so many times. There is some wear to the cover as pictured. |
