The pictures show views of this Old German Wind Up Mechanical Singing Birds In Detailed Brass Bird Cage. Shown are two different side views, a view of the two birds inside, a view of the detailed metal side, and a view of the bottom. This bird cage is not dated but it is old. It is not a toy, it is a heavy, finely made wind up musical piece. After winding the key and turning the switch on at the bottom the two birds move and sing. They sing and move together and alone. Their heads move, their tails move, and their beaks move. They are sitting on metal perches with a faux bush with leaves around them. Below them is a mushroom. The birds are covered in real feathers and have tiny eyes. One is red and black, and the other is yellow and black. The base is covered in a green felt and the rest of the cage is made of brass. There is a large loop at the top to hang the cage if desired. On the side is a very detailed designed brass metal covering. On the bottom is is the windup key, a switch, a grill speaker cover, and three feet. The bottom is marked ''GERMANY'' but there is no manufacturers mark. To judge the sizes the the cage, counting the top loop measures 11'' tall. The birdcage works well like clockwork. It is well made musical device and it appears to be in near mint condition as pictured. It could use a light cleaning if desired. We noticed that one of the tiny eyes on the yellow bird is missing but it can be easily replaced. |
