The picture shows a front and back view of this 1948 Boston Sunday Herald Newspaper Spelling Bee Award Medal. At the top there is a red, white, and blue ribbon on a pin section. Hanging from it is a bronze or brass medal. The medal has two images. One appears to be a headless angel and the other is a paperboy running with newspapers. It is marked on the two sides as follows:

BOSTON HERALD
SPELLING BEE
1948
THE BOSTON HERALD
THE TRAVELER SUNDAY HERALD
GRADE CHAMPION
BALFOUR

It is unknown what grade this medal was for. The medal with the ribbon measures 3-1/4'' tall. It appears to be in good condition. There is some spotting on the ribbon and a few small spots on the back of the medal as pictured.
