The picture shows a view of this Unused 1955 Tarantula Monster Movie Ad Mat Mold. The ad mat is not dated but it is from the 1955 movie. This is a mold in which lead is poured to create a thin metal negative image that is then mounted on a wooden block for printing. Advertising is no longer being made or printed like this.

The ad mat is like a miniature 3-D poster and would look nice framed, or you could still use it and make print blocks from. The print block would have been used to print on movie pages in newspapers, in magazines, or in the movie theater programs. It is made of a thick compressed paper board.

The admat has a movie scene image of the giant Tarantula tearing up a city. There are buildings falling and people running for their lives. The admat is marked as follows:

GIANT SPIDER STRIKES!...
CRAWLING TERROR 100 FEET HIGH!
TARANTULA!
STARRING JOHN AGAR - MARA CORDAY - LEO G. CARROLL
WITH NESTOR PAIVA - ROSS ELLIOTT
A UNIVERSAL INTERNATIONAL PICTURE
UNIVERSAL INTERNATIONAL (logo)
MAT NO.203
AD MAT NO. 203 - 2 COL. x 3-3/4'' - 105 LINES

The ad mat measures about 4-1/2'' x 5''. It appears to be in good unused condition with water spotting in the upper left corner as pictured. Below here, for reference, is a cast list from the 1955 movie:
