| | | The pictures below show larger inside and outside views of this 1940s Occupied Japan Western Cowboy Hinged Metal Jewelry or Trinket Box. This box is not dated but it was made in Japan during the time of American occupation just after World War II. The box is made of a silver colored metal with an original blood red painted background on the hinged cover or lid. The box has images of (2) Cowboy hats, (2) pairs of Cowboy gloves, a Cowboy boot with spur, a revolver pistol or gun, a bull whip, and (4) hearts. There are design patterns framing the cover, all around the sides, and on the bottom. There are curved sides inside the box. There are feet on the corners, however a piece of the right front foot is broken off and missing. On the bottom there is a makers mark with a “Y” in a square. The bottom also reads as follows: MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN The jewelry or trinket box measures about 4-1/8'' x 3-1/4'' x 1-3/8''. It appears to be in good condition with over all wear from years of use. As mentioned above, a piece of the right front foot is broken off and missing as pictured. |
