The ashtray is not dated but it was manufactured just after World War II when Japan was occupied by the United States. The tray depicts a Native American Indian head with a feather headdress. It is nicely glazed in brown on a cream colored pottery or ceramic. This may have been sold as a souvenir in the American West. It is marked on the back as follows: MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN The space that holds a cigarette or cigar is the bottom feather. The tray measures about 4-3/4'' x 4-1/2''. It is in mint unused condition as pictured. |
