The picture shows two views of this Old Ceramic or Porcelain Pie Bird Figure. The pie bird is not dated but it is believed to be old. It is not marked and the maker is unknown. The bird is white with black eyes. These are used like a chimney in the center of a pie when baking to let off steam so the pie doesn't boil over when baking. The steam would go up through the open bottom and out the mouth. We haven't tried it but with the small hole in the mouth it may whistle like a tea pot. This pie bird measures 3-7/8'' tall. It is in mint condition as pictured.
