The picture shows a view of this Unidentified 1916 Large City Event Crowd Black & White Photograph. The back of the photo is dated 1916 and it is believed to be a United States or American city. There is some other writing that we can not read. A few of the words appear to read ''gumpein humain''. If you are able to identify the location, please let us know. The scene is of a city street with early automobiles (perhaps Model A or Model T cars) and panel trucks coming from both directions with a large crowd in the center. It seems to be an event, but we can not tell what. There are some signs and partial signs that are seen They read as follows: WASHINGTON DAIRY EAT LUNCH ALWAYS OPEN ARTIST'S SIGNS CIGARS CAFE ????NEY SHOES ????UX FIRE INS. CO. (a few other signs are almost readable) The photograph measures 4-1/16'' x 2-3/8''. It appears to be in excellent condition as pictured. There are four corner spots of black paper on the back where it had once been attached to a photo album or scrap book page at one time. |
