The pictures show views of this Old Wooden Lowney's Sweet Chocolate Candy Advertising Box. This box is not dated but it is believed to be from the early 1900s. The Walter M. Lowney Company was the maker of many different chocolates and confections. They were from Cambridge or Boston, Massachusetts and Montreal, Canada. This six pound chocolate box has dove tailed jointed corners and a wooden bottom. There is no lid or cover. It is marked on the four sides as follows: (short sides) 6 POUNDS QUARTERS LOWNEY'S DIAMOND SWEET (3) CHOCOLATE (long sides) LOWNEY'S The wooden box measures 11-3/4'' x 8'' x 2-1/4''. It appears to be in excellent used condition with some age cracks in the wood as pictured. |
