The picture shows this Old Die Cut Mechanical Advertising Premium Walking Doll. This resembles an old Cracker Jack prize and may have been made by the same company. It is a cute image of a girl with a doll in her arms. There is a wheel attached to the back with a rivet. That wheel has four feet and when it is rolled along it gives the appearance that the girl is walking. The advertisement printed on it reads: IT WILL PAY TO WALK A MILE TO THE BAYBURN DYERS AND CLEANSERS WITH A REPUTATION BAYBURN CLEANSING SHOP CAMBRIDGE, MASS. (Massachusetts) The back of the wheel reads: WALKING DOLL PATENT APPLIED FOR J.B. CARROLL CO. CHICAGO The advertising premium is not dated but believed to be from the 1940's. It measures 6" tall and it is in excellent condition with two light creases that can barely be made out in the scan. |
