The pictures below show larger views of what is here of this Old Hopalong Cassidy Toy Wind Up Mechanical Automatic Television Set for Parts of Restoration. The mechanical toy television is not dated, but it is believed to be from around 1950. It was manufactured by the Automatic Toy Company of Staten Island, New York. This mechanical toy could be a good candidate for being restored, or the parts could be used to restore another one. There are four parts here that appear to be in decent shape. There is an outer television casing with the striped front, and a nice Hopalong Cassidy water decal on the top, the cylinder for the movie strips, the inner casing, and the tin metal working wind up bottom section.

The toy TV set parts are made of marbleized plastic, except for the bottom which is metal and tin. Once would up, you would pull the center knob on the front for the cylinder inside to slowly spin. The comic strips (there were four, but none are included here) would go in front of the striped window inside, which would make it appear to be a moving picture (like a flicker or lenticular image) when it is spinning. To stop it from rotating, you would simply push the knob back in. The extra filmstrips can be stored inside the cylinder. The key wind up mechanism inside is in the bottom. It is strong and it works well. To judge the sizes the over all television set measures about 5-1/2'' x 5'' x 4-3/4''. What is here appears to be excellent condition as pictured. There is no box. None of the (4) film strips are present. Where the top of the TV connects, the back two corner tips of the plastic are gone.
