The picture shows a front and back view of this 1910s Cracker Jack Advertising Premium / Prize Riddle Card. This is card #7 of a set of (20) different Riddle Cards that were used as prizes in the Cracker Jack boxes. These cards were one of the earliest prizes that were used. On the card are instructions on it to order a complete mail away premium set of (20) cards back then. So that means that this one actually came in a box. The ones that you ordered by mail do not have the ordering or mailing instructions. Some people refer to these as trade cards. They were put out by the Rueckheim Bros. & Eckstein, the makers of Cracker Jack. Each of these cards has a nice colorful early package of Cracker Jack and advertising on the front. There are different riddles on the backs of the cards. There are some variations in the set including the different wording at the bottom and some with no number, but the riddles remained the same. The card measures about 2-7/8" x 5-1/16". The riddle card appears to be in excellent condition. It has rounded corners as pictured. |
