This booklet is not dated but references within it place it at 1937 or 1938. It has an image of the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. There is an image of Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay prior to the Golden Gate International Exposition. There is also an image of a model of the Trylon and Perisphere for the 1939 - 1940 New York World's Fair. This booklet was made to advertise ''The Book Of Knowledge'' encyclopedia set. Inside are some examples of things that were to be in the book set. There are gravure, color, and halftone images from around the world. Also included in this is a page of dog breeds, colorful pages of butterflies, plant life, nuts, one on the Girl Scouts, how airplanes are piloted, a colorful page of Native American Indians ''Chieftans Of A Vanishing Race'' (pictured), a colorful page of fish species (pictured), a centerfold of planets and airplanes, a colorful page of sea animals, a colorful 600 year old (in the 1930s) book page, a section on U.S. Navy submarines and the U.S.S. Holland submarine tender. There are more colorful pages on flowers and their visitors (insects). There is a section on puzzles, one on fine Art, and another on primates. This (24) page booklet is loaded with great information and images! It measures 6'' x 9'' and is in near mint condition. |
