It is in a shield shape and enameled in red, white, and blue. It has an eagle at the top and a logo in the center. The front and back read as follows: THE SALVATION ARMY BLOOD AND FIRE STERLING LGB The next item is an old brass uniform button. It has (13) stars and a ''SA'' monogram in the center. [CORRECTION: We have learned that this is NOT a Salvation Army Button. It is upside down. The letters are "SV". It is a uniform button for the Sons of Union Veterans from the Civil War.]The back reads as follows: G. W. SIMMONS & SON BOSTON Next is an old Salvation Army paper tag shield with string. It is marked the same on both sides. It is unknown what this tag was for or when it was made. There are (5) small tin pin back buttons included. These are marked as follows: The Salvation Army 1919 Home Service Fund The Salvation Army Home Service The Salvation Army Home Service The Salvation Army The Salvation Army There is a (16) page booklet entitled ''What Everyone Should Know About The Salvation Army''. This is a 1971 edition with a 1965 copyright. It is filled with illustrations and information. The last item in this lot appears to be an unused game or contest piece. It is made of paper and has a panel that pops open. It has not been opened and what is inside is unknown. The year it was made is also unknown. To judge the sizes the booklet measures 5-1/2'' x 8''. The items are in various conditions. The enameled silver pin has a tiny chip in the white enamel in the upper left corner. The paper tag has some creasing. Two of the small pinback buttons are missing their pin but they are easily replaced. |
