This card is not dated but it is believed to be from the mid 1800s. On the back there are old hand written notes. It is printed on the front as follows: SNELLING & OLIVER WHOLESALE & RETAIL DEALERS IN FLOUR, WEST INDIA GOODS SHIP STORES & GROCERIES, NO. 46 LONG WHARF, BOSTON. SAMUEL G. SNELLING, HENRY J. OLIVER, JR. ROTARY PRESS. The old business card measures about 4'' x 2-1/2''. It appears to be in excellent used condition with notes on the back as pictured. Below here, for reference, is some additional information that was found on Samuel George Snelling: 1824. Eleaxora Ellicott Paut/ (John Rodman Paul/ Elizabeth, John, Thomas/ John/ John/ John), m. May 18, 1854, Samuel George Snelling, a prominent merchant of Boston, Massachusetts and connected with various important manufacturing companies, as well as with many philanthropic institutions. Amongst others, he was Treasurer of the Lowell Bleachery ; President of the Lancaster Mills ; a Director of the New England Bank, Boylston Insurance Company; also a Trustee of the Massachusetts School for the Blind, and the Episcopal Theological School at Cambridge. 2753. Elizabeth Tilden Snelling, m. May 31, 1883, Rev. Augustine 2754. Samuel Snelling, b. Jan. 14, 1857 ; m. April 23, 1884, Jane Lambert Kielblockf Graduated 1879 at Harvard University B. A.; graduated S. T. B. Cambridge Theological School ; took orders in the Episcopal Church 1882, and is rector of Grace Church, Amherst, Massachusetts. |
