The picture below shows a larger view of the (2) Large 1800s Tintype Portrait Photographs of A Seated Woman in this lot. These are larger then a 1/2 plate photos. These are slightly different poses of the same woman at the same photo sitting.

The woman is dressed in antique or vintage clothing. She is wearing a dress with a colorized bow with perhaps a jewelry brooch pin on the bow. It is interesting how only the bow has added color in both photographs. She is also wearing earrings, and a choker necklace that has pocket watch chains that go down to a pocketwatch that is sticking out of her pocket. She also has some flowers in her hair.

These tintype photographs were acquired from an old estate with many more older photographs dating back as far as the Civil War to the early 1900s, including many tintypes, carte de visite (CDV), and cabinet cards. The people are not identified, however, the majority of photographs were of people who were probably related, and lived in Rochester, New Hampshire, and Bangor, Maine.

The tin type photos measure about 5'' x 7''. The images are very sharp with detail and clean. We are not graders, but they appear to be in excellent or better condition as pictured. The photographs had been well protected since they were taken many years ago. It can not be seen in the image below, but a very light oval can be seen on the right photograph, where this particular photograph had once been inside a frame with an oval mat.
