They were made so that you would have change at hand for a parking meter, toll, telephone call, a vending machine, a postage stamp, or any other situation where a small amount of change was needed. You would need a much bigger one now for today's prices. All of the keychains are made of metal. Three of the coin holders are made of metal and two are made of plastic and they are spring loaded. Three of these are two sided. From left to right they hold the following size coins or tokens: smaller than dime / dime or penny
