The pictures show views of this Old M&M's Chocolate Candies Advertising Store Case Box. This is an empty box. This box is not dated but it is believed to be from around 1954 when their famous slogan ''Melts in your mouth - not in your hands'' was introduced as well as the M&M peanut, and the famous animated M&M characters for television commercials. The M&M candies were first introduces during World War II in 1941 as a treat for the United States Military. The M & M name stands for their creators Forrest Mars and Bruce Murrie. This case box of (24) packages is wholesale stamp priced 89c for the grocer, who would sell the individual packages for 5c ($1.20) making a total of 31 cents profit on the case. The top and bottom sections are marked on all sides except for the bottom panel. The small print reads as follows: PLAIN CHOCOLATE CANDIES M&M's CANDIES, HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. © A DIVISION OF FOOD MANUFACTURERS, INC. The closed box measures 6-5/8'' x 7-5/8'' x 1-5/8''. It appears to be in excellent condition with an indent on the top panel as pictured. There are a few small spots and a few spots of paper loss on the sides. |
