| | | | The picture below shows a larger view of all (3) Old Space Astronaut & Rocket Plastic Toy Cap Bombs in this lot. These space theme toy cap bombs are not dated but they are believed to be from the 1950s or 1960s. They were probably purchased as a novelty toy at an old five and dime store. The top sections of these feature an Astronaut in a space suit standing inside a rocket ship. The way that they work is you would unscrew the bottom section and place a single cap gun cap inside. The smaller one has a spring and pulls open to place a cap. You would then throw it so that it lands on a hard surface. The heavier bottom will land down. A metal rod hits the cap and it blows up inside. These display well. The two larger ones are marked on the side as follows: ROYAL TOT MFG. CO.
U.S.A. To judge the sizes, the larger cap bombs measures 3-1/2'' tall. They appear to be in excellent condition as pictured. |
