Yakky Doodle is a fictional character created by Hanna-Barbera Productions. Yakky39;s name is an obvious takeoff of Yankee Doodle.
History
Yakky Doodle (voiced by Jimmy Weldon to sound similar to Donald Duck) is an anthropomorphic yellow duckling with green wings who lives with his best friend Chopper the bulldog. Yakky is always one to run into danger when it is most expected. This usually comes in the form of the show39;s main antagonist Fibber Fox or secondary villain Alfy Gator. Chopper defends his 39;39;Little Buddy39;39; fiercely, and is always ready to pound Fibber or any other enemy into oblivion if necessary. Yakky39;s tendency to put himself in great danger never draws a rebuke from Chopper, who presumably enjoys his protective role. One of Yakky39;s repeated line is 39;39;Are you my mama?39;39; One of Yakky39;s favorite songs he loved to sing, in a few episodes, was 39;39;Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay39;39;.
The 39;39;template39;39; for Yakky was Quacker, a similar duckling character voiced by Red Coffee, who39;d appeared in a number of classic Tom and Jerry cartoons, debuting in 195039;s 39;39;Little Quacker39;39;. Weldon, a former kids39; show host and ventriloquist, had based this character on his 39;39;partner39;39; Webster Webfoot. The same design was also used for a duckling in Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinks Episode #48 39;39;A Wise Quack39;39; and as a blue duckling in Yogi Bear Episode #2 39;39;Slumber Party Smarty39;39; and Episode #18 39;39;Duck in Luck39;39; and as a purple duckling in 39;39;Loopy De Loop39;39; Episode 13 39;39;This is my Ducky Day39;39;. Yakky debuted on the 39;39;Gone To The Ducks39;39; episode of the 39;39;Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy39;39; segment of The Quick Draw McGraw Show. He later had his own segment on The Yogi Bear Show in 1961.
