|©1880 Book Entitled "THE ANIMAL KINGDOM ILLUSTRATED". The first picture shows the cover. The second has the title page (retyped below). The third and fourth atre just two of the estimated (775) engravings throughout this volume. The title page gives a count of (1550) engravings, but I believe that this is for both volumes. There are also three samples below of the engraved images of individual animals. This is Volume I of a two volume set. Sorry but I do not have the other volume. This is a very thick and heavy book. It was written with extreme detail. There are (718) pages filled with engraving plates and a lot of information on all forms of animal and human life. The the title page gives much information I will re-type it below here. It reads as follows:|
Comprehensive, Scientific, and Popular,
ILLUSTRATING AND DESCRIBING THE
WONDERS AND CURIOSITIES,
FROM MAN, THROUGH ALL THE DIVISIONS, CLASSES AND ORDERS, TO THE ANIMALCULES IN A DROP OF WATER;
SHOWING THE HABITS, STRUCTURE, AND CLASSIFICATION OF

This is truly an amazing book! It even classifies and separates human cultures. It is made of a comparable quality to large old family Bibles. The book measures 7-3/8" x 10-7/8" x 2". It is in excellent condition. The cover has some wear. The first blank page is separating. There is a name written on that first blank page. All of the very detailed engravings appear to be in excellent+ clean condition.
