| | | | The pictures show several views of this Comical Old Painted Deforest Garlic Shaped Pottery Condiment Jar. Shown is the front, back, and the bottom with its marking. This condiment jar is not dated but it is believed to be from the 1950s. The company that made it existed from 1950 to 1970. It is in the shape of garlic and has a painted face and top. There were other different condiment jars like this one made including ones for onion, relish, jam, mustard, etc.. They were all made with the same comical appeal. This one is marked ''GARLIC'' on the top. There is a capital ''G'' but the light glare is hiding it. The inside is glazed white and the outside is tan, maroon, black, white, and green. It is marked on the bottom as follows: DEFOREST OF CALIFORNIA
HAND PAINTED The Garlic head jar measures about 5'' tall by about 4-3/4'' wide. It is in excellent condition as pictured with normal age crazing to the glaze on the outside. There are no chips or breaks. There is old masking tape on the bottom as pictured. This was to protect the surface that it set on. This could be removed and small felt spots could be added if desired. |
