The picture shows a view of both sides of this 1896 Buffalo or Bison Celluloid Pin Back Button. This pinback button was part of an 1896 collection that we had acquired. We do not know its origin or its abbreviations. It pictures a colorful and detailed image of a Bison or an American Buffalo. There is a paper insert in the back with a Union label. It is marked on the two sides as follows:

O. OF B.
U.R.E.Z.

THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO.
NEWARK, N.J.
PATENTED
JULY 17, 1894
APRIL 14, 1896
JULY 21, 1896

The pin back button measures 7/8'' wide. It appears to be in excellent condition with some small surface rust spots on the back as pictured.
