As I understand it, there were times in the 1800's when there was a shortage of metals for minting coins. Many businesses had minted their own and took advantage of this opportunity to advertise on them. This coin is believed to have had a value of one cent. It is made of copper. On one side it reads: E. F. SISE & CO.
