| | | The picture shows a view of the (3) Unused 1958 Tom & Jerry Tot Watchers Cartoon Ad Mat Molds. The ad mat is not dated but it is from the 1958 cartoon film. These are molds in which lead is poured to create a thin metal negative image that is then mounted on a wooden block for printing. Advertising is no longer being made or printed like this. The ad mat is like a miniature 3-D poster and would look nice framed, or you could still use it and make print blocks from it. The print block would have been used to print on movie pages in newspapers, in magazines, or in the movie theater programs. It is made of a thick compressed paper board. The admats have image of Tom, Jerry, and a baby and they are marked as follows: AN M-G-M CARTOON COLOR BY TECHNICOLOR TOM AND JERRY IN TOT WATCHERS IN CINEMASCOPE The ad mat measures about 4-1/2'' x 7''. It is in excellent unused condition with an old water mark on one corner as pictured. Below here, for reference, is some information from the movie: Directed by: Joseph Barbera & William Hanna Produced by: Joseph Barbera & William Hanna Writing credits: Homer Brightman (story) Original Music by: Scott Bradley Cast Daws Butler - Voice Janet Waldo - Voice Bill Thompson - Policeman (voice) (uncredited) Animation Department Richard Bickenbach - layout artist (as Dick Bickenbach) James Escalante - animator Robert Gentle - background artist Lewis Marshall - animator Kenneth Muse - animator |
