The pictures show front and back views of this Rare N690 1887 Kalamazoo Bats Denny Lyons Philadelphia Phillies Baseball Tobacco Insert Card. The card is shown in its PSA holder and also prior to being authenticated. The card has an 1887 photograph image applied to it. There were (60) cards in the set. According to collectors, the rarity of these cards makes it extremely difficult to complete a set. We were unable to find a record of a complete set. Along with the other Kalamazoo issues, these sepia colored cards are believed to be amongst the most desirable 19th century cards. Charles Gross & Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania issued this set comprised of players from four teams: The New York Giants, the New York Mets, The Philadelphia Athletics, and The Philadelphia Phillies. They are larger than most tobacco inserts. Most card backs are blank with some having an ad offering various premium prizes in exchange for the cards. The ad backs were made scarce so that there were few prizes redeemed. This card has the full premium advertisement on the back.

The card has a great photograph image of Denny Lyons at bat. He was the Right Fielder for The Philadelphia Phillies. He is shown in the field in uniform with a bat. The front and back of this card are marked as follows:

(front)
LYONS, R.F., PHILA
