The picture shows four views of this Very Strange & Creepy Old Hard Plastic Mechanical Clown Head Pull Toy. This toy gets our bizarre or unusual item of the month award. This scary clown toy is not dated but believed to be from the 1950s. It was made by the Cinderella Manufacturing Company. That is the same company that produced the old tin Tom Thumb Cash Register toy.

Attached to a loop in the clown nose is a brown string that looks like a large shoe string. The parts of the clown head are made in blue, red, white, black, and a bakelite looking brown color hard plastics. There are two large wheels on the sides and a smaller one in the front. As the wheels spin, the eyes rotate, the hat spins, and the mouth opens and closes. Seeing this thing coming at them is enough to scare any young child. What were they thinking? All it needs to do is scream or laugh as it moves, but it was not made to do so.

There is a slot on the cone shaped hat but we do not know what it was for. Perhaps there was a flower, sign, or feather there at one time. It is marked on the bottom as follows:

PAT. APPL'D.
CINDERELLA MFG. CO.
JACKSON, MICH.
SALES OFFICE 200 FIFTH AVE. N.Y.C.

The toy measures about 4-5/8'' tall. It is in good condition with over all wear from use as pictured. It doesn't roll on all surfaces. It seems like it needs to weight more or be oiled. A weight could probably be added inside if desired.
