The picture shows a view of both sides of this ©1978 United States Military Veteran Commemorative Coin Medal. The medal is made of brass and has a reeded edge. One side has an image of an early American flag and a militia Soldier with a woman and a child. The other side has the famous World War II image of U.S. Marines raising the American flag on Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima. It is marked on the two sides as follows:
