| | | | The picture shows two views of this Miniature Antique Sealing Wax Jack with Original Wax Taper Spool. This miniature wax jack is not dated but it is old. It is not marked and the maker is unknown. It is made of a gold colored metal. The base has a nice embossed design and the wire that holds the taper has scrollwork designs. It has the original red wax spool on it. This would have been used to seal envelopes or letters prior to glue being used. A wax seal with a monogram or design would have been pressed on the still soft melted wax. This may have come from a small portable desk or kit for letter writing. We do not know for sure. This is the first miniature wax jack that we have seen or offered. To judge the size this wax jack only measures 1-1/8'' tall. It appears to be in excellent used condition as pictured. |
