| | | The pictures show a front and back view of this 1894 Wooden & Paper Ladies Hand Held Fan With Advertising. The fan is dated ''MAY 5, 1894''. The maker is unknown. The fan sticks or blades are made of wood and it has attached printed paper and strings. There is a metal loop at the bottom. We do not know how this fan was used or if it was a give away or premium. It reads like it may have been from a country fair, a carnival, a local grocery store, a farm, or a restaurant. We do not see any business name. There is writing on the back of the paper fan that reads as follows: ''THINK OF SAVING AS WELL AS OF GETTING.'' - SOUP - VEAL PATTIES PICKLES APPLE FRITTERS LOBSTER SALAD BISCUITS FROZEN PUDDING MACAROONS RUSSIAN TEA BUN BUNS MAY 5, 1894 The fan, including the metal loop, measures about 9-1/4'' long. It is very fragile but appears to be in excellent condition as pictured. There is one paper section that has separated. This can be seen on the left side of the first picture, or on the right side of the second picture. |
