At the time the Portland Maine Publishing Company published the Evening Press, Press Herald, and Sunday Telegram newspapers. The letterhead has a building pictured. The letter was written to a correspondent / reporter of the papers. The State Editor was not happy and inquiring as to why the story of a school fire was not reported. It is signed Newton C. Reed. The envelope has a three cent Abraham Lincoln postage stamp. To judge the sizes the letter measures 8-3/8'' x 10-3/4''. It is in near mint as made condition with folds from mailing. |
