The picture shows a view of all (16) 1947 European United States Army Jeep Color Photograph Slides with People in this lot. There are (2) U.S. Army Officers in the slides that are giving people rides in their Jeep, mostly pretty young civilian ladies. The men can be seen both in and out of their U.S. Army uniforms. It looks like one of the men was a Captain in the Army Air Force. He has two bars on one collar and what appears to be a winged propeller on the other. He has a set of wings over one pocket as well. The other man in a khaki uniform may outrank him. The slides are clear and the images could be enlarged. Most of the images are with the same Jeep, but it look like there is another one as well. The photographs were taken in 1947 just after World War II. The license plates on the Jeep are 1947 U.S. Army plates ''P-16121'' if that helps. Also, on both of the bumpers is ''USF'' and ''GR''. We believe that these stand for United States Forces Graves and Registration Company. This would make sense because others that were acquired with these are of ceremonies at World War II American cemeteries. If you would be interested in those slides please let us know. The slides were taken in France and maybe some in Switzerland. There are two that can be identified as being taken at the Hotel Restaurant Curin, in Plombieres Les Bains, France. All but a couple of these slides are mounted in metal frames. All of these slides for one price! The slides each measure 2'' x 2''. They appear to be in near mint to mint condition as pictured. The actual slides are not as dark as they appear in the scans below. |
