1937 Melvin Purvis Secret Operator Premium Brass Toy Ring
Melvin Purvis Secret Operator   Premium   Prize   Brass   Toy   Ring   FBI   Detective   Police   Post   Cereal   Advertising   Radio   G-Man   G-Men   Character
The picture shows three views of this 1937 Melvin Purvis Secret Operator Premium Brass Toy Ring. The ring was a mail away premium from Post cereals. Melvin Purvis (1903 - 1960) was an FBI Agent that was famous for the deaths of criminals John Dillinger and Pretty Boy Floyd in the 1930s. He had later became well known with children through Post Cereals. Many different premiums had been produced. The Junior G-Man Corps had both boys and girls divisions.

The ring is made of brass. It has a raised badge image in the center and stars on the sides. There is an eagle and a star in the center. It is marked as follows:

SECRET OPERATOR
MELVIN PURVIS
LAW & ORDER PATROL

To judge the size the ring measures about 5/8'' tall. It appears to be in mint condition with all of its luster as pictured.
