The picture shows the lid design, the bottom, and scans from around the side of this beautiful little Save The Whales Etched Mermaid Trinket Box. This is a simulated ivory or bone scrimshaw item. It has the appearance and color of a carved item but it is not. It has a very nice image of a sleeping Mermaid, a tortoise (turtle), and a few different sea shells. It has a whale with crossed harpoons on the bottom and is marked as follows:

SAVE THE WHALES
COLLECTION ®
ARTEK ~ POOL

The round box measures 1-3/4" wide by 1-1/4" tall. It is in mint condition. There is a paper that comes with the box stating that it is a polymer ivory reproduction and that it was hand cast and hand finished, using molds taken directly from the original scrimshaw. Also there are cleaning instructions. It tells you to treat it as if it were bone china.
