The pictures below show larger views of this 1943 Joaquin Garay's Copacabana Night Club Advertising Souvenir Photograph Folder. The World War II black & white photograph features two United States Navy Sailors and their dates. We do not know what ship or ships that the Sailors were from. The photo and folder is from a Christmas Eve date and it is date stamped December 24, 1943 on the back. The four people pictured are named and each of them had written comments or messages on the folder. The cover features a picture of Joaquin Garay who was the owner and operator of the Copacabana, as well as a well known San Francisco radio and night club entertainer. The Copacabana had opened in 1941. As a side note, Joaquin Garay was also the voice actor of ''Panchito'' of the 1944 Walt Disney animated film ''The Three Caballeros''. It is marked on the cover as follows: ''A NIGHT AT JOAQUIN GARAY'S COPACABANA'' 2215 POWELL ST. SAN FRANCISCO The closed photo folder measures 8-1/2'' x 6-5/8''. It appears to be in good condition. There is the obvious writing on the folder and a center vertical crease from folding it as pictured. |
