The picture shows a front and back view of this Early United States Navy Officer Uniform Button. We are not button or military experts, but we believe that this button is from the Civil War era or earlier. On the front is an oval shape with an eagle on a ship anchor with (13) stars. There is rope on the inner and outer edges, and lines in the background. On the back the shank is intact and it is marked as follows:

The button measures 7/8'' wide. It appears to be in excellent condition as pictured. This is not a dug button and it has not been cleaned by us.
