The picture shows the front page of this Special 1947 Maine Fire Disaster Pictorial Review. This publication has (18) large pages filled with large pictures of the disaster. It is printed on much better and heavier paper than ordinary newspaper. The Pictorial Review was edited by staff members of the Guy P. Gannett Newspapers in Maine and was printed by the Kennebec Journal of Augusta, Maine.

This is a very fascinating paper filled with the many terrible details. It has many, many pictures of all the towns that were in the path of this fire. It mentions on the front:

The Cost In Dollars And Heartache

16 Dead
2,500 Homeless
1,068 Homes Destroyed
9 Communities Leveled or Partially Wiped Out
4 Other Communities Suffered Extensive Damage
200,000 Acres Of Timberland Ravaged

Some of the many Maine towns and areas mentioned include: Kennebunk, Bar Harbor, Waterboro, North Waterboro, Cape Porpoise, Biddeford, Kennebunkport, Gooseneck Beach, Goose Rocks, Portland, Hollis, Dayton, Newfield, Crow Hill, Maine State Pier, Cadillac Mountain, York County, Mt. Desert Island, Carry, Norcross Ridge, Moosehead, Madison, Norridgewock, North Anson, Richmond, Machias, Wayne, Fayette, Livermore, Sanford, Shapleigh, Lyman, Brownfield, and many more...

Each page measures 17" x 22-3/4". It is in excellent condition.
