Only the post card in this lot is dated and the years that the pins were made are unknown. Two of the pins are enameled. The postcard has a 3 cent Statue of Liberty postage stamp. It was sent from Washington, D.C. on July 25th, 1962 and was mailed to a Taunton, Massachusetts address. It has a short written message on the back. The postcard caption on the back reads: “IRON MIKE” - LOCATED IN FRONT OF MARINE CORPS SCHOOLS MUSEUM, QUANTICO, VIRGINIA, COMMEMORATES MARINE CORPS PARTICIPATION IN WORLD WAR I. Each of the pins has the Marine Corps insignia. The first pin has just the Marine Corps insignia The second one is enameled in red and it reads: MARINE CORPS LEAGUE SEMPER FIDELIS The third one has a “SWEETHEART” pin at the top and it has a hanging Marine Corps insignia charm. The fourth pin one is enameled in white and it reads: U.S MARINE CORPS HONORABLE DISCHARGE SIMON (on the back) The fifth pin has just the Marine Corps insignia All of these for one price! To judge the sizes the postcard measures 5-7/16'' x 3-1/2''. The pins appear to be in mint condition as pictured and the post card is used. |
